Pastor

Pastor Moore was born and raised in Saginaw, Michigan. At the tender age of

nine, Shawn embraced Jesus Christ as his Savior, guided by the ministry of First

Baptist Church of Bridgeport, Michigan. He was a student at their Christian school

until he was expelled during his twelfth-grade year. Shawn strayed from his faith,

living a life of sin until 1998 when he chose to return to God.

In 1999, he relocated from Saginaw, MI to Kansas City, MO attending Bannister

Road Baptist Church. He obtained his Bachelor of Biblical Studies degree in May

2003 from Kansas City Bible College, a school initiated by the church. Following

graduation, he returned to Saginaw, serving as the youth pastor at Bible Baptist

Church for three years. Subsequently, he assumed the role of lead pastor for six

years there as well.

In 2010, Shawn married his beautiful, god-fearing wife Jennifer, and by 2012, they

had relocated back to Kansas City, MO where he had been working as Dr. Dwight

Scott’s assistant until recently being voted in as lead Pastor. In 2023, he earned a

Master of Christian Ministry degree from Carver Baptist Bible College and

Seminary. Shawn is an author and dedicated servant of God who is committed to

spreading love.

Shawn enjoys bowling and cherishing moments with family and friends. He and

Jennifer are blessed with three lovely children. Shawn loves to say that every

move he makes is a calculated move to position himself to tell more people about

Jesus. (John 3:30)

Church Administrator

A Kansas City native, Walter Johnson accepted Christ as his Savior in August 1977 while stationed in Hawaii and serving in the U.S. Air Force. After being discharged, he enrolled in Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Mo., where he met Pastor Dwight Scott. In 1983, Brother Johnson returned to Kansas City after receiving his bachelor’s in theology and joined Bannister Road Baptist Church. In 2004, he also earned a master’s in Public Administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

During his membership at BRBC, Brother Johnson has served in several ministries, including Sunday school teacher and superintendent. He also has served as director of music, church trustee and deacon.

Brother Johnson married his high school sweetheart, Sarah, in 1977. They have two daughters, Risa and Lea, and five granddaughters, Aviyon, Imani, Risa, Ruby, and Ava. He also was allowed by Sarah in 2013 to adopt a 120 lb. male bullmastiff, Baron!

Church Secretary / Clerk

Crestita Shaw was born in Tacloban, Philippines. She was raised a Catholic but came to faith in Jesus Christ in 1974. She attended Carver Bible Institute and was grounded in her faith through completing many Bible courses.

She was an educator for 37 years. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Tarkio College in Tarkio, Missouri and her Master’s Degree from Webster University in KCMO. She has worked for the Kansas City, Mo School District, Bannister Christian Academy (BCA), and the Charter Schools in Kansas City. She has taught Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades.

Sister Shaw became a member of Bannister Road Baptist Church in 1991. Prior to joining the staff as the church secretary, she also served as a nursery worker, a choir member, Sunday School teacher, as well as teaching Kindergarten for BCA.

She has three sons and eight grandchildren. Sister Shaw enjoys any time spent with her family. Her grandchildren are a special blessing and joy.

Music Ministry Coordinator

Dianna Whittaker was a Air Force brat.  She was born in New York and was a resident of several AF bases before settling in the Kansas City area with her husband and two children in 1978.

At the age of 9, Dianna was introduced to Christ and baptized at a local church in North Dakota. In her early 20’s Dianna came to know Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior after joining Bannister Road Baptist Church and was re-baptized in 1985. 

Dianna was a professional model/actress for 15 years,  pursued a degree in Social Work in her late 30’s and served as a Discussion Leader for Bible Study Fellowship for 18 years. She also had a love for volunteering  in homeless shelters. 

As a member of BRBC, Dianna has served in many ministries including Deacon’s wife, Bible Study Group Leader, Photographer, Church Directory committee, Youth Revival, and Church Anniversary committees, Student Life Advisor for the Kansas City Bible College, Choir Director, Music Ministry Coordinator and Choir President.

Dianna is married to her high school sweetheart David and they have two children; son, Johlon Whittaker & wife Dana, daughter, Dana Green and husband Reginald, 6 grandchildren; Dayrel, Nylah, Delea, Cayden, Caleb and Janiyah and 2 great grandchildren; Da’Kilah and Da’Mari.

Dianna loves all things music, serving with the her choir family, encouraging and edifying the congregation through song and giving all glory to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in every aspect of the music ministry.
